This post is part of a mini blog series documenting four weeks of Constraint-induced Movement Therapy (CIMT).
Today is our best Constraint-induced Movement Therapy (CIMT) session yet! My daughter is fully engaged and in great spirits despite her lingering cold. We try some new activities and some oldies but either way, she’s clearly having fun and hopefully learning a lot!
Rice and Tactile Balls in the Bin
I don’t know what it is about rice but my daughter seems to love playing with it. Ruth has placed the bin on the light table to illuminate it for better visual accessibility. What a neat idea!
Yellow Slinky on the Light Table
We’ve tried this one several times and the more we do it, the more progress she makes. We cheer her on as she actively reaches out to touch the slinky with her left hand.
For tummy time, we place transparent pink rubber balls on the light table. She appears to observe them for a little while.
Rolling the Red Bouncy Ball
With some help, my daughter succeeds in extending her arm to push the ball a few times. She chuckles and I wonder if she understands what she’s doing.
Snack Time with Bananas
She’s getting much quicker at lifting her hand towards her mouth. I hardly have time to spread the banana on her hand before she’s going for it! Ruth is experimenting with using red physiotherapy tape to see if it will catch her attention.
